Selwyn speakers and guests are already assembled on the grass area. Visitors walk onto the quad through the All Saints Church gate on the Western side of the quad to a welcoming Haka-Waiata, perfomed by a select group of Selwyn residents.

Visitors stand behind the chairs laid out for their speakers. Selwyn residents performing the welcome Haka-Waiata stand on the Northern side of the grass; the rest of the college stand at the Eastern side of the grass in front of the main entrance to the College.

Events then take the following order:

• Selwyn 1st speaker;
• Waiata from the Selwyn residents;
• Selwyn 2nd speaker;
• The College Haka-Waiata;
• Visiting speaker/s and a Waiata they may have prepared (both women and men may speak);
• Hongi between a representative group drawn from both Selwyn residents and visitors;
• Food is shared with visitors in either the student common room or the Brothers' Hall.
